SPECIALIST

Alexandre Cassago

He holds a Biological Sciences BSc (2003), and an MSc in Genetics and Evolution (with emphasis on molecular biology and protein purification; 2005) both from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). He has got a PhD in Science from the São Carlos Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo (USP; 2010), with emphasis on crystallization and structural protein analysis. From 2010 to 2013 he did a postdoctoral fellowship in Protein Biochemistry and Transmission Electron Microscopy of Biological Molecules at LNBio and LNNano, CNPEM. In 2018 he received ThermoFisher and Oregon Health & Science University training to operate Talos Arctica G2 and Titan Krios G3i automated microscopes. He works in the development and implementation of efficient strategies for preparing and acquiring data from biological samples (protein complexes and viral particles) and in training and assisting users in preparing samples and operating the LNNano cryomicroscopy open facility’s transmission electron microscopes.
