The Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) is currently accepting registrations for the first edition of the Electron Tomography and Subtomogram Averaging Workshop, a course in association with the Mercosur Structural Biology Center (CEBEM) and co-organized by the University of São Paulo (USP) and the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CNB). The event is scheduled to take place from March 24 to 28, 2025, and is designed for researchers, imaging scientists, and graduate students with experience in electron cryomicroscopy (cryo-EM) or electron cryotomography (cryo-ET).
The event will offer selected participants a comprehensive overview of the entire image processing workflow in electron tomography (ET). The program will cover the principles of electron tomography, including image acquisition, reconstruction, and data analysis. It will also cover data processing techniques, such as alignment, classification, and subtomograms averaging. The program will include practical skills in the use of different softwares via the ScipionTomo framework.
Applications will be accepted until February 23rd, exclusively through the event’s website. Due to the limited number of places, candidates will be selected based on their CV and letter of interest. For detailed information, visit: https://pages.cnpem.br/cryoet-workshop/.
The event will take place at the Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory (LNNano), which is part of the CNPEM campus in Campinas, São Paulo. One of the program days will be held at the new facility of the University of São Paulo (USP) on its campus in São Carlos.
