The Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory invites applicants for a postdoctoral position in the one of the four projects listed  below. Interested persons should submit the curriculum vitae and contact information with three references letters. Applicants must apply through  e-mail until July/18/2017:  lnnano.dir@lnnano.cnpem.br

1. Physical metallurgy and phase transformation in high entropy alloys

The postdoc will have the opportunity to work with physical metallurgy and phase transformation of high entropy alloys conjugated with thermomechanical simulation and X-ray diffraction in a synchrotron light beam line. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy techniques will be available, being the TEM equipped with an aberration corrector and FIB that provide potentials for profound insights into the fundamental issues by directly imaging defects and interfaces at the atomic scale.

2. Synthesis of semiconductor surfaces for photocatalysis of energy carriers

Synthesis of photocatalysts for the reduction of carbon dioxide and oxidation of methane using various chemical and physical techniques and their characterization by diffuse reflectance, profilometry, transmission and electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and photoelectrochemical techniques. The TEM equipment is equipped with an aberration corrector and FIB that provide potentials for profound insights into the fundamental issues and phase transformations by directly imaging interfaces at the atomic scale.

3. Electronic transport in organic / inorganic hybrid heterostructures or 2D materials

The candidate is expected to have solid knowledge in semiconductor physics with experience in charge transport and magneto-transport in devices. It is desirable from the applicant some experience in the fabrication of components by photolithography, and / or electrical measurements at low temperatures and with magnetic field, and / or organic electronics. In the case of theoretical researchers, the candidate must have experience in first principle calculations (DFT) as well as diffusive and ballistic transport.

4. Digital microfluidics toward electrochemical screening analyses

The digital revolution has come to microfluidics. In digital microfluidics (DMF), discrete droplets of up to nanoliters are manipulated by applying electrical fields to an array of electrodes. It facilitates the control over chemical reactions and analyses. In this project, the postdoc candidate will perform the development of DMF platforms toward screening analyses using electrochemical techniques such as voltammetry and impedance.
