To all researchers conducting Materials Science and Structural Biology research and require electron microscopy techniques, the Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory (LNNano) announces the call for research proposals to their electron microscopy facilities.
This time all research proposals should go through in our new system
SAU Online: https://sauonline.cnpem.br/duo/
If it is your first time using this system, you’ll need to register a new profile. Please follow the instructions on SAU Online platform.
Important: The inclusion of students (masters, doctorate, etc.) in the proposals is encouraged. However, students cannot submit a proposal without a senior investigator as the principal investigator. If the proposal is submitted by a doctoral student, it must contain a senior researcher, preferably the student’s advisor as principal investigator.
The submission of proposals for the use of Scanning Electron Microscopes and Transmission Electron Microscopes must be done separately choosing the most appropriate facilities such as SEM-FIB (Scanning Electron and Dual Beam Microscopes), TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopes for Materials Science), and CRYO-EM (Transmission Electron Microscopes for Structural Biology). In the next step, it is necessary to choose an appropriate External Committee (C1 or C2) to evaluate your research proposal.
SAU Online is also the interface for giving feedback on infrastructure and services, as well as to update publications related to research developed with the use of the LNNano electron microscopy facilities. Updating the published results is mandatory since it is an important criterion of the proposals evaluation. It is worth highlighting the importance of updating the research curriculum at Lattes platform 24 hours prior to the submission of the proposals.
Please, note the following dates:
- Submission period: November 23rd to December 23rd, 2021.
- Notification of the outcome: February 2022.
- Execution of proposals:
- SEM-FIB and TEM: March to December, 2022.
- CRYO-EM: March to July, 2022.
