Researcher

Rafael Furlan de Oliveira

Researcher in the Nano and Microfabrication Division working on the development of sensors and biosensors based on 2D materials. Rafael has got a BSc in Physics (2007) from Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” – UNESP, holds a Master’s Degree (2010) and PhD (2014) in Materials Sciences and Technology (UNESP). During his PhD studies he did a 6-months research internship in the development of organic Metal-Insulating-Semiconductor capacitors at Bangor University (United Kingdom; 2012). Still during his PhD, he did a joint, one-year internship at the Università degli studi di Modena & Reggio-Emilia (Modena / Italy) and at the Istituto per lo Studio dei Materiali Nanostruturatti – ISMN / CNR (Bologna / Italy; 2013-2014) in the development of biosensors based on organic transistors with gated electrolyte. He worked for 6 years as a postdoctoral fellow: at LNNano in the field of organic and molecular electronics (2014-2018) and, later, at ISIS – Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (Strasbourg / France) in the development of electronic devices based on 2D materials (2018-2020). His main interests include the manufacture and electrical characterization of nanostructured materials and their application in devices such as transistors, capacitors, diodes, among others.
