For the first time in Latin America, the 14th edition of the International Symposium on Biopolymers, ISBP2014, will be in Brazil, in Santos, São Paulo from September 28th to October 1st.
Santos is located on the island of São Vicente in the state of São Paulo 70 km from the city of São Paulo, the biggest metropolis in Brazil. This is Santos, where the warmth, security and diversity of scenarios are allied to a rich cultural, historical and ecological, making the city into a unique destination.
The International Symposium on Biopolymers, ISBP, is a successful congress series on biodegradable polymers that has been held in 2 years intervals since the initial meeting in Toronto 1988 (1990 Barcelona, 1992 Göttingen, 1994 Montreal, 1996 Davos, 1998 Tokyo, 2000 Cambridge, 2002 Münster, 2004 Beijing, 2006 Minneapolis, 2008 Auckland, 2010 Suttgart, 2012, Cairns).
ISBP 2014 will focus on biopolyesters such as poly (3-hydroxybutyrate – PHB) or polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) besides other biopolymers, such as PLA, starch polymers and other polyesters from potentially biodegradable monomers, biobased polymers that are not biodegradable, applications in the market place and company presentations. The meeting will bring together international leading scientists in biology, chemistry, processing, bioprocess technology and industrial production. Experts from around the world will present talks and posters to all areas of the rapidly growing bioplastics fields. The next ISBP meeting is scheduled for September 28th to October 1st at the Mendes Plaza Hotel, Santos and will be organized by Luiziana Ferreira da Silva, José Gregório Cabrera Gomez and Marilda Keico Taciro (University of São Paulo) together with SBM (Brazilian Society of Microbiology).
