The Nanostructured Materials Laboratory (Laboratório de Materiais Nanoestruturados – LMN) was founded in 2013 as a unit within the Brazilian National Nanotechnology Laboratory (LNNano). This group develops in-house research related to the creation, development and application of nanostructured materials produced from renewable and abundant sources.

Multiparty R&D projects and services to industrial companies cover a broad range of industrial products: paints, adhesives, thermoplastics, elastomers, agricultural products, fibers, ceramics, specialty chemicals, packaging, personal care, equipment for oil & gas production, power storage/generation and construction.

Two open facilities are currently operated by the LMN: an X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS) and an X-ray microtomograph (micro-CT). Soon a polymer pipeline will be commissioned and opened for external users. Requests for use of the instruments can be submitted through the user portal.
